For the last week I’ve been installing work for my show Staying Put, at Space Gallery here in Portland Maine. Here is a link to the show on Space’s site. The show is all installed now and it opens today and runs through the first week of September. I will be giving an artist talk on July 29th, in the gallery, so tell your friends and come out if you’re around.
Also, Anne Buckwalter, from Space Gallery, interviewed me for the website and Space mailer and that interview is here for your reading pleasure now…
This show is a first for me in that it consists of one single object, and is essentially a show of its documentation in photo and video. I created a full size version of the miniature above, put it out in Rockland harbor, and documented is brief stay in the world before putting in the gallery. This is the beginning of its life. I intend to put it in again for a longer time, hopefully a month or more, in the future.
here is the video montage of the maiden float. You’ll have to come to the show to see the giant photo prints that are filling the gallery…
If you’re in the area, stop in and see the show, or come to the talk on the 29th of July. Or come out on the first Friday art walk in August. hope to see you there.
